A man is accused of stealing more than $13,000 worth of stainless-steel pipe from a business in Grand Forks.

Robert Hurles, 30, was charged with felony theft this week. He is not in custody, and there's a warrant for his arrest.

In October, J.R. Simplot, an international corporation that produces food, reported that pipe was missing from a rack on its property at 3630 Gateway Drive. The missing pipe was valued at $13,740, according to a police report.

Residual Materials Inc. (RMI), a Grand Forks company that recycles metal, told police they paid Hurles $3,262 for stainless-steel pipe. After a closer inspection, RMI determined that the pipe had come from Simplot, the report says.

Hurles declined to be interviewed by police. He does not have a phone number listed in the area.
