Man charged in I-29 shooting pleads not guilty

A 20-year-old man authorities say discharged a gun while driving down Interstate 29 in October pleaded not guilty to six-related charges Friday in Grand Forks District Court.

A 20-year-old man authorities say discharged a gun while driving down Interstate 29 in October pleaded not guilty to six-related charges Friday in Grand Forks District Court.

Matthew Osowski, Oslo, Minn., was charged with reckless endangerment, a Class C felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine, as well as a string of misdemeanor charges after allegedly shooting a gun from his car Oct. 8.

At the time, police said a bullet struck a passing semi-trailer.

Osowski also has been charged with possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia associated with marijuana, minor in possession or consumption of alcohol and driving under the influence.

Osowski remains free on bail.

A pretrial conference has been scheduled for Feb. 28.
