HALSTAD, Minn. --- A Hillsboro, N.D., man faces felony charges after authorities say he broke into the home of an old friend and stole wallets and other items.

Eric Michael Baldwin, 30, has been charged with first degree burglary, a felony, for actions Norman County prosecutors say took place in early August.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman living in the 400 block of Second Avenue West in Halstad heard a door close about 11 p.m. Sept. 6 and thought her husband had come home.

But the next morning she noticed a lighter on the floor, which seemed out of place. Her phone was missing, and so was her debit card. Her husband noticed his wallet was missing. The family's two cars appeared to have been rummaged through.

Sept. 13, the victim called authorities and stated their credit card had been used at a gas station in Mahnomen County, Minn. A Mahnomen County deputy reviewed security footage from the gas station. The footage also was reviewed by the victim, who said the man looked like an old friend.

Deputies in Traill County identified the individual as Baldwin.

A warrant for Baldwin's arrest was issued in September. He was arrested Wednesday by Grand Forks deputies.
