A man suspected of terrorizing Grand Forks residents early Thursday has been arrested.
Police arrested Jeffrey Kenneth Handeland, 42, of Dunseith, N.D., after officers responded to two reports of a man threatening residents with a knife around 2:15 a.m., according to a statement from the department.
Handeland faces three counts of terrorizing and one count for aggravated assault, all Class C felonies, according to the statement.
Police were dispatched to a parking lot in the 2100 block of South Washington Street where a male and female resident reported a man making threats. Officers were also dispatched to 17th Avenue South and South 14th Street.
After an investigation, police determined the man and woman were walking through a parking lot when the suspect first brandished the knife and threatened them, causing them to flee the area, according to the release.
Shortly afterward, a bystander saw the same suspect assaulting a woman he was walking with. After the bystander attempted to intervene, the suspect threatened that person with a knife and left the area.
Police quickly located the suspect and woman with him, who was determined not to have been involved in the threats.
No injuries were reported.
