FOSSTON, Minn.-Officers have arrested a man on assault charges after a juvenile was injured Thursday night in Fosston.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office responded at 7:05 p.m. to a report of an assault at 300 First St. W., according to a news release. The victim was taken to Essentia Hospital and released after being treated for unknown injuries.

The adult male suspect was arrested, but officers said they won't release names in the case until the man makes his first appearance in court.

In seemingly unrelated news, the Sheriff's Office also responded to a hit and run Thursday evening in Fosston, according to the release on the assault. Few details were available on the hit and run, but officers said they located the vehicle. The suspect still was at large as of 5 a.m. Friday.

Both incidents are under investigation.
