SUPERIOR, Wis. - Superior police arrested a man over the weekend after he allegedly robbed a woman, and then left a bag with his name inside at the crime scene.
Authorities reported that at about 4 p.m. Saturday, the man allegedly knocked a woman to the floor of Jimmy's Saloon in Superior, struck her and left with her wallet.
But he left without a grocery bag with belongings that included his name, said Superior police Capt. Thomas Champaigne.
Police confronted the 37-year-old man on Monday morning as he left a convenience store, Champaigne said in a news release. The man allegedly had been shoplifting in the store, Champaigne said.
The man, who said he has lived in the Twin Ports since 2012, admitted to the Jimmy's Saloon robbery as well as an earlier robbery, Champaigne said. In that incident, a woman was walking outside her home in the area of North 21st Street and Baxter Avenue when a man approached her, struck her "multiple" times with a club and attempted to steal her purse. The woman fought off the attacker and screamed for help, Champaigne said, but the assailant was able to escape with her backpack.

The man was arrested and jailed on a shoplifting charge and paperwork on the robberies has been sent to the district attorney's office.
