A man is in custody after allegedly threatening a group of kids with a knife in a West Fargo park.

According to West Fargo police Sgt. Jerry Boyer, officers responded to a report of a man with a knife at the 200 block of Ninth Avenue West around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

There, a group of juveniles met with the officers and said a man had approached them, then threatened them with a knife. He also offered them alcohol and at one point, grabbed one of the kids.

The group was able to point to a general area they thought the man would be in and gave a description of the man, his bike and a backpack he had with him.

Officers found the man, 49-year-old Warren Vavrina of Fargo, in an apartment.
