FARGO - A 20-year-old accused of a sexually assault in a parking ramp at Fargo's Sanford Medical Center pleaded not guilty in Cass County District Court today.

Richard Dwayne Perry is charged with gross sexual imposition and aggravated assault in connection with the Aug. 10 incident.

Police allege a 30-year-old woman of Glyndon, Minn., was choked from behind as she was walking down the stairs in an employee ramp south of the hospital. The man choking her knocked them both down the stairs, pinned her down by her neck and fondled her, the alleged victim told police.

Perry's defense attorney asked for a pre-sentence investigation to determine what his sex offender risk assessment would be if he were convicted.

If convicted on the Class AA felony charge of gross sexual imposition, Perry would face a minimum of five years in prison and five years of supervised probation. He'd also be required to register as a sex offender.
