MADDOCK, N.D.-A Maddock man was driving drunk when he crashed a car Thursday afternoon in Benson County, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

At 1:05 p.m., Brad Paulson, 43, was northbound on N.D. Highway 30 in a 2009 BMW sedan when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road about 5½ miles south of Maddock, according to a news release. He left the roadway and the car rolled.

Paulson was taken to a hospital in Harvey, N.D., to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The release indicates an airbag went off, but it doesn't appear he was wearing a seat belt. The Patrol also listed a driving under the influence charge by Paulson's name.

Charges hadn't been filed against Paulson as of 5 p.m. Thursday.
