Gas leak repaired:

A gas leak from a natural gas line caused four homes to be evacuated on the 1800 block of Cottonwood Street south of 17th Avenue South on Wednesday night in Grand Forks.

No injuries were reported and the leak was repaired within two hours, according to Rick Coulter, battalion chief with the Grand Forks Fire Department.

The leak was reported about 5 p.m. and was repaired by 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Xcel Energy workers found the leak, dug up the gas line with a backhoe and fixed it without shutting down the gas line, Coulter said.
