A local tea party group will host a free community action workshop Thursday in Grand Forks.

The Valley Tea Party Conservative Coalition will host the event from 7 to 9 p.m. at Culver's restaurant, 3451 32nd Ave. S.

Attendees will learn how to get involved in local district party conventions, the state party conventions and how bills are introduced and move through the state Legislature.

The event also will cover the rights and responsibilities of convention delegates and the process of deciding which candidates will be on the next ballot.

GOP event describes Oil Patch life

The next Politics and Lunch event hosted by the Grand Forks Republicans will look at life in the Oil Patch.

Sen. Stan Lyson, R-Williston, will discuss the impact of booming oil development on western North Dakota. Lyson is a former Williams County sheriff.

The event is noon Thursday at GuestHouse Inn, 710 First Ave. N. A $10 charge includes lunch and a beverage.
