LEEDS, N.D.-An undercover officer pretending to be a teenage girl nabbed a Benson County man after investigators said the suspect was trying to lure the girl by computer.

Jeffrey Dale Blazer of Leeds made his initial appearance Monday in Benson County District Court on charges of luring minors by a computer, a Class B felony, and driving while his license was suspended, a Class B misdemeanor.

Blazer was arrested Friday after investigators said he drove 40 miles to the Spirit Lake Resort and Casino to meet a 14-year-old girl he had met online, according to court documents. Instead he came face to face with an undercover investigator.

Benson County Sheriff Steve Rohrer told Forum News Service that Blazer, who was taken to the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center in Devils Lake, was the only person arrested in the investigation.

Blazer faces up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted on the Class B felony. His next court hearing is Jan. 9.
