The last North Dakota National Guard soldier serving in Iraq is expected home Wednesday, Guard officials said today.

Staff Sgt. Teresa Pavljuk, a member of the state Air Guard's 119thWing, will arrive in Fargo just before 1 p.m. Her duty recently in Iraq was helping get cargo shipped and she extended her deployment there to help with the drawdown of U.S. troops. She was one of the last U.S. troops to fly out of Iraq, according to a Guard news release.

About 2,000 members of the North Dakota National Guard have served in Iraq the past decade. Pavljuk was deployed there in March.
