A Larimore, N.D., man charged with sexual abuse of a young boy that could put him in prison for life bailed out of jail Saturday.

Adam Scott Hamilton, 33, appeared Thursday in state district court in Grand Forks where District Judge Joel Medd set his bond at $10,000 on the charge of continual sexual abuse of a minor.

According to a spokeswoman for the Grand Forks County jail, Hamilton bonded out Saturday and is free. He's scheduled to appear next in court April 19 for a pre-trial conference.

According to court documents, Hamilton admitted to investigators he had sexually assaulted the boy for six years before he was 13 in residences in eastern North Dakota. But Hamilton effectively has pleaded not guilty to the charge and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He applied for a court-appointed attorney.

The charge is a Class AA felony, with a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole if the victim is younger than 15 and the perpetrator is older than 22.

Hamilton had been in jail since mid-December when he was charged and ordered by the court to have no contact with the boy.
