You might not need it for the latest "Star Trek" movie, but the new

"Star Trek" Klingon Language Suite application for Apple's iPhone will

impress your co-workers, have you shine like a star at parties and make

you irresistible to the opposite sex.

OK, maybe not.

Still, this package of programs will let you clean up your Klingon so

you don't accidentally insult the honor of someone's lineage when you

really meant to ask them to pass the gagh (Klingon serpent worms, a

delicacy).

The suite, which was announced late last week, combines The Klingon

Dictionary, Conversational Klingon and the new Klingon Phrasebook.

Some highlights include recorded tutorials in Conversational Klingon

voiced by actor Michael Dorn, who played Worf on several "Star Trek" TV

shows. And for that trip you are planning to take to Qo'noS, the Klingon

home world, the phrasebook offers a travelers' tool with more than 30

audio phrases and their translations.

The suite also includes: an interactive, two-way bilingual translation

text from English to Klingon; the history of searched dictionary terms;

verb conjugation; and audio phrase pronunciation with volume control.

The Klingon Language Suite costs $11.99 from Apple's App Store for the

iPhone and iPod touch, and each piece can also be bought separately: The

phrasebook is $0.99, Conversational Klingon is $3.99 and the dictionary

is $9.99.
