The North Dakota Supreme Court has upheld the reckless-endangerment and attempted-murder convictions of a Cooperstown, N.D., man, the court announced Thursday.

In response to an appeal, the justices ruled that the state District Court did not err in find-ing Darin Dahl competent to stand trial and found that there was sufficient evidence for the convictions.

Dahl, 36, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a SWAT-team officer in the hel-met during a 20-hour standoff at a Luverne, N.D., home.

Dahl is in custody at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.
