A jury is expected today to hear the case of an airman charged with aggravated assault in a fight in downtown Grand Forks.

Police said David Exelbert, 25, accosted three Grand Forks men in September 2008, hitting one of them with brass knuckles.

According to police, the 43-year-old man Exelbert hit was treated for minor injuries at the scene, and Exelbert was taken to Altru Hospital in an ambulance.

Exelbert was a staff sergeant at Grand Forks Air Force Base when the incident occurred. The base could not confirm Exelbert's status Tuesday.

The charge of aggravated assault is a Class C felony that carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
