John L. "Jack" Riske, 81, Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.
John Leonard Riske was born May 18, 1925 in Drayton, ND the son of Lawrence and Helen (Reszka) Riske. He was raised and educated in the Drayton and Minto, ND area. Jack worked on a farm near Hoople for 28 years before moving to Grand Forks in 1980. He worked in Grand Forks for B&N Oil Company delivering bulk gasoline and home heating fuel in the area. He retired in May of 1991. Jack married Janet Machovsky on November 6, 1951 in Park River, ND. Jack loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, Twins baseball games and taking care of his dog, Snoopy. Survivors include his wife, Janet, Grand Forks; daughters, Sharon (David) Hinn, St. Cloud, MN and Suzette (Byron) Jensen, Minot, ND; son, Roger (Danelle) Riske, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Laurie (Hy), Brian (Stephanie), Miranda (Craig), Taylor, Cody and Ashley; great grandchildren, Kaydance, Chloe, Brenna and Kiran; brothers, Joe (Florence) Riske, East Grand Forks, MN and Stanley Riske, Biwabic, MN; sisters, Isabelle Parks, Enumclaw, WA, Angeline Thumstrom, Burien, WA, Stephie Metcalf, Auburn, WA, Emma Homme, Grand Forks and Marion Brownell, Grand Forks. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers, Louis, Steven, Lawrence Jr., Engelbert, Harry and Carl and by grandchildren Jonathan Jensen and Abbey Jensen. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2007 in St. Michael's Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in the spring of 2007. Arrangements are with Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. www.amundsonfuneralhome.com
