JAMESTOWN, N.D. - A Jamestown man was shot by three Jamestown police officers after he threatened them with a shotgun early this morning, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Jamestown Police Chief David Donegan said in a press release that the three officers were dispatched at about 2:12 a.m. this morning to 1506 Sixth Ave. S.W. to a report of an armed male threatening suicide. The officers arrived on scene and stood on the sidewalk leading to the apartment building while they discussed their course of action.
The male subject then exited the front door of the building carrying a shotgun. Upon seeing the officers, the 27-year-old Jamestown man chambered a round into the shotgun and pointed it at the officers. The three officers fired on him, striking him several times.
The man was taken by ambulance to Jamestown Hospital and later taken by air ambulance to Sanford Medical Center, Fargo. His condition is unknown.
The press release said the shooting is being investigated by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The three police officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the ongoing investigation.

The officers were assisted by the North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Stutsman County Sheriff's Office.
