Incumbent Dave Oehlke won the Senate seat in North Dakota's District 15, with 67 percent of the vote and all precincts reporting.
His opponent, Democrat Barbara Vondell, collected 32 percent of the vote in complete but unofficial results.
These results are according to information on the Secretary of State website.
Oehlke has been in the Senate since 2007. Oehlke is an insurance agent for American Insurance Center in Devils Lake. He said he cares most about infrastructure and social services, such as reinvesting in recovery from addiction. Transportation needs and how to pay for them will be on his agenda, he said.
District 15 encompasses Towner and Ramsey counties.
Incumbents Dennis Johnson and Greg Westlind defended their seats in the House of Representatives in District 15.
Johnson took 40 percent of the vote and Westlind collected 33 percent with all precincts reporting.
Their challenger, Bill Mertens, collected 25 percent of the vote. These are complete but unofficial results.
Johnson, a Republican, has been in the House since 1993. In his time as a legislator, he has seen a tremendous amount of change, he said.
"I really appreciate having the opportunity to represent the people in District 15," Johnson said. "I want to continue to try to make it better for our younger folks who are eventually going to seek some of the roles we're trying to fill now."
Westlind, a Republican, has been in the House since 2016. He is a retired farmer and businessman from Cando. His biggest concerns are funding for rural health care and senior citizens.
"I feel that it is my responsibility to work toward fully funding our nursing homes and also Medicare and Medicaid," Westlind said. "I'm running for that reason, to make sure we can afford to take care of our elderly and rural health."
