The Hatton-Northwood (N.D.) Thunder Robotics Team 876 recently competed at the World Championship of FIRST Robotics in St. Louis, according to Northwood science instructor Mike Voglewede.
The robotics team placed sixth out of 76 total teams, putting them in the top 2 percent of teams worldwide.
Students attending were Dean Ott, Dominic Ott, R.J. Zuniga, Jerry Guerra, Thomas Myzskowski, Dillon Anderson, Sierra Mastrud, Morgan Saukko, Kari Hillesland, Ben Hillesland, Brianna Fowler, Collin Douglas, Jaden Bachmeier, Ty Korsmo, Alyssa Shuck, Mica Leake, Julia Sebekow and Madison Pourprix.
- Two high school students have been selected for the Ross Loibl Memorial Scholarship, according to Paul Jundt, dean of students of Legacy High School in Bismarck. Trevor Verkuehlen of Larimore, N.D., and Ryan Thompson of Lakota, N.D., were named for the scholarship out of 11 students in the state. The scholarship, named after a former Wells Fargo Bank and basketball official, is granted to individuals who have participated in basketball at the varsity level and have maintained a 3.0 GPA.
- Grand Forks Public Schools will hold an induction ceremony Wednesday for National Technical Honor Society inductees, according to the district.
Inductees were nominated for membership based on their academic success in career and technical education classes, community and school involvement and their character.
"The NTHS induction ceremony serves as a celebration of both students and staff," said Eric Ripley, district director of career and technical education.
Central High School's chapter will be inducted at 5:30 p.m. and Red River's chapter will be inducted at 7:30 p.m. at South Middle School.
