ELDRIDGE, N.D. - Authorities here this morning rescued a man who fell ill while working on grain handling equipment 150 feet off the ground.
The Jamestown Fire Department was dispatched to the Country Grain Cooperative in Eldridge at 9:27 a.m. when a maintenance worker suffered a seizure on a walkway at the top of the grain-lifting mechanism, said Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther.
The Jamestown Fire Department responded with its aerial ladder truck with a capability of reaching 95 feet. Fire department and other personnel carried a rescue basket stretcher down five flights of stairs to reach the extended ladder. From there the worker was lowered to the ground and taken by ambulance to the Jamestown Hospital.
The name, age and residence of the victim were not available.
The worker was not an employee of Country Grain, according to a person answering the phone at Country Grain who declined to give her name.

Personnel from the Jamestown Fire Department, Stutsman County Sheriff's Office and Jamestown Ambulance participated in the rescue.
