Icy road contributes to fatal Minnesota crash

DEERWOOD, Minn. -- An 82-year-old woman from Deerwood died Monday night in an accident caused by an icy Minnesota Highway 210 in Aitkin County between Deerwood and Aitkin, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Vera Hunt was driving west on Highway 210 near Cedar Lake just before 7 p.m. when she lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet, the state patrol said, sliding into the eastbound lane. Her car was struck on the passenger side by an oncoming 2006 Dodge Stratus driven by a 43-year-old Aitkin man. He suffered minor injuries.
