When did you first find out about the UND-Minnesota rivalry?
Ever since I've known about Fighting Sioux hockey, I've known that Minnesota is their biggest rival. My parents always told me that I could play college hockey wherever I wanted, except I couldn't play for the University of Minnesota.
Do you remember the first time you saw the rivalry game from the stands?
Yes. I saw UND play Minnesota in Grand Forks and in Minneapolis, too. I went to the games in Mariucci when Zach Parise played.
What were your thoughts?
The game is at a higher level. The rivalry is huge. Both teams have a lot of hatred for each other, but a lot of respect at the same time. I can't wait to get it going.
We know that your father, Bob, played for the Sioux in the '70s, but he's not the only UND connection in your bloodlines, is he?
No, my mom went to school at UND, too, and my uncle (Tim Delmore) played goaltender here.
Are you hiding something on you mother's side of the family?
I didn't want anyone to know about that (laughing). My grandpa (Jack Delmore) played goalie for the Gophers way back when and another uncle (John Delmore) played for the Gophers. I don't know the exact dates, though.
Is there trash talking going on within the family this week?
Nah, (John) is a pretty quiet guy. He doesn't say too much about hockey. He's proud to see me playing college hockey for the Sioux.
Does he follow you and the sport, though?
He'll be at the games this weekend. He lives down in the Cities, so he'll come out and support me. I'm not sure which team he's cheering for, though.
