What was your recruitment like?
I committed here when I was pretty young. I was 16 years old. It was the beginning of my junior year. I had been talking to a couple other WCHA schools, but not too many outside the league. I had visits set up for Minnesota and Wisconsin, but I came here the weekend before and I fell in love with it right away. I didn't even bother going on the other visits.
How much has your father (former UND All-American defenseman Marc Chorney) influenced you?
Everything I've learned as a defenseman on and off the ice, I pretty much owe to him. He's taught me little things like positioning, ways to think the game and how to carry myself. I can't say enough good things about all of the good he's done for me.
What's it like coming to the rink and seeing pictures of him all over the place?
They had some pretty good teams and some guys with some great credentials. They won a couple of national championships, too. I don't know why, but for some reason, they look like they're so much older than we are. I don't know if that's because they had no mask on their helmet or what.
It's got to be the mustaches they all had, right?
I was thinking that. He had the mustache. I can't grow one that thick. I wish I could. If I had those capabilities, I'd probably have one, too.
