In a fresh push to find an intruder who stabbed a man in his home last month, Grand Forks Police are distributing wanted posters advertising a $7,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
The posters show a sketch of the intruder, based on the recollections of the victim and his wife. They will be put up around the area, police said.
Investigators also offered a new detail about the crime in a news release Wednesday, saying the intruder used a normal-sized steak knife with a black plastic handle during the incident.
Lt. Rahn Farder said the intruder brought the knife into the home, but declined to say whether police had recovered the knife. He said there's currently no evidence linking this break-in to any others.
The victim, Tom Schirrick, 41, was hospitalized for four days after he was stabbed in the chest early Sept. 17. Police believe the intruder entered the home by slashing a window screen. Schirrick's three young children were home at the time.

Schirrick's employer, Minnkota Power, and his co-workers have been raising money for the reward. Police say the intruder could be charged with attempted murder or, at the very least, aggravated assault.
He's described as a white male, about 30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches, 230 to 240 pounds with brown hair and facial stubble. He was wearing a black, sleeveless shirt and dark pants. He may have had some type of black cloth or tape wrapped around one of his hands.
Police, who don't have any firm suspects, ask that anyone with information about the incident to call (701) 787-8000.
