Grand Forks resident Lauren Robinson, 9, and her younger cousin James Grant, 5, jump into the Elks Pool on 13th Avenue South Monday in Grand Forks. Linda Robinson, the children's grandmother, watched the two while they cooled off on the hot summer day. "Whenever they call I'm ready to go," Linda said. With temperatures in Grand Forks reaching the upper-80s to mid-90s the past couple of days more and more people are flocking to the pools to take refuge from the heat. The extreme heat has been good news for local pools as an unusually rainy June drastically decreased average attendance numbers. The summer heat isn't going anywhere either. Much of the same can be expected for the next week as temperatures are reported to hover around the lower 80s in the Grand Forks area for the next five days.
