GRAND FORKS - Steamy conditions are fueling dangerous weather patterns throughout much of the region tonight.
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of southeastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota until 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Jeff Makowski, meteorologist at the weather service, said the greatest threat is in the southern Red River Valley eastward into Lakes Country, but any storms that develop have the potential for large hail and damaging winds.
Makowski said the strongest storm so far has been in Clay and eastern parts of Wilkin counties in Minnesota, where a system with hail, strong winds and rotation developed. There have been no reports of tornadoes on the ground.
Makowski encourages those living in the watch area to monitor the conditions and be prepared to find shelter.
