Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., has been named to four key U.S. Senate committees, the Senate Republican Conference announced Thursday.

Hoeven was named to the Appropriations, Energy and Natural Resources, Agriculture and Indian Affairs committees. He also was selected to serve on the Republican Conference Leadership Advisory Board, a group that meets weekly and provides input to the leadership team on issues that are being discussed in the Senate.

"These committee assignments provide a great opportunity to bring North Dakota's perspective and influence to bear on issues important not only to our state but also our nation," Hoeven said in a written statement.

He said serving on the leadership advisory board gives him "an additional opportunity to make sure that North Dakota's voice is heard" during important policy decisions.
