A Grand Forks man died Sunday in a one-vehicle traffic crash in Kansas.

The victim has been identified as Ronald R. Runyan, 57, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Runyan was driving a Peterbilt tractor-trailer north on Kansas Highway 27, about 3 miles north of Goodland, Kan., at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday when the truck left the road, according to a crash report.

The vehicle entered the west ditch, struck a post and then continued northbound through a wheat field and crashed through a Kansas Department of Transportation fence. It then crossed Sherman County Road 67, striking another KDOT fence, coming to rest about 100 yards into another wheat field.

The victim was taken to Goodland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the report, which indicated he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
