Scholarship honors Boyd
A scholarship for undergraduate emerging leaders has been established in honor of Robert Boyd, UND's outgoing vice president for student affairs.
The Dr. Robert Boyd Emerging Leader Scholarship Endowment in the College of Business and Public Administration was established through the UND Foundation by Boyd's daughters and sons-in-law.
Boyd began his 32-year career at the university as the director of extension and professional services. He served as vice president for student and outreach services from 1998 until his retirement last month, but he is continuing full time as UND's Fighting Sioux nickname and logo transition officer.
The scholarship will have its first recipient in the fall 2011 semester. It's offered to students who have a history of demonstrating leadership, beginning in high school, and who want to build their leadership skills while attending UND.
UND faculty and staff, alumni and friends may make a gift to the scholarship endowment in Boyd's honor, and these gifts may qualify for a matching gift through a challenge grant established by the B. John Barry Family Foundation.
