GRANDIN, N.D. - Authorities say they had to use a Taser to subdue an 18-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man who led them on a high-speed chase Monday morning that started south of Fargo and ended in a field near Grandin, N.D.
The incident began about 9 a.m. when a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over a white Chevy SUV that was driving more than 110 mph on Interstate 29 about eight miles south of Fargo, patrol Sgt. Troy Hischer told WDAY Radio.
The SUV took off north through Fargo, driving on the right shoulder to get around traffic. Hischer said he deployed stop sticks at 52nd Avenue South, but the SUV veered into the median to avoid the tire-deflating devices.
About 30 miles north of Fargo, the suspect turned east and drove through Grandin, the SUV going airborne at times, Hischer said.
The suspect eventually drove into a field and got stuck. He initially ignored orders to exit the vehicle, and when he did walk over to troopers after about 20 minutes, he refused to follow their commands, throwing a punch at one trooper, Hischer said.

Troopers used a Taser and eventually restrained the suspect without injury, he said.
Narcotics and alcohol were found in the SUV, Hischer said.
The suspect's name was not immediately available.
