The winners of the 2017 North Dakota Professional Communicators (NDPC) Communications Contest, held April 20-21 in Fargo, have been announced. Herald reporter Pamela Knudson was the overall NDPC sweepstakes winner, claiming 11 first place, one second place and two third place awards in various categories. Knudson was also named as the conference's Communicator of Achievement.

Peace Garden hires two

William Zierle and Suzanne Zierle have been hired as executive and sous chefs at the Garden Cafe at the International Peace Garden. They started April 24.

Klefstad recognized

Luke Klefstad of The Village Family Service Center has received the North Dakota Family Based Services Association's Lifetime Membership Award. The award recognizes individuals who have provided a minimum of seven years of service or employment in family-based services. Klefstad has been with The Village since 1999 and has a bachelor's degree in psychology from UND.

Mayville State names director

Jessica Amb has been named as director of Mayville State University's Child Development Programs. Amb has been working in the child development department since 2011, serving as a fiscal manager and as interim director for the past few months.
