Roger Beauchamp Benefit: A benefit for Roger Beauchamp of East Grand Forks will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Eagles Club in East Grand Forks, with tacos in a bag, a silent auction and a live band. Beauchamp lost his job early in 2010, then suffered a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery, injured his back in a car accident and was diagnosed with cancer. Zach Gabbard benefit: A benefit is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 27 at Mulligan's Pub and Eatery, Perham, Minn., for the family of Zach Gabbard, the Minnesota high school basketball player who collapsed during a game last month. Gabbard, 17, received open heart surgery at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo and a second open heart surgery Jan. 28 at University of Minnesota's Cardio Care specialized unit. The Perham Backcourt Club is asking individuals and organizations to donate silent auction items or cash contributions to help raise funds for this benefit. Addison Lessard Benefit: A Benefit Breakfast & Bake Sale for Addison Lessard will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 6 at the KC Hall in Reynolds, N.D. Addison, the daughter of Jeremy and Amanda (Lazur) Lessard, was diagnosed in October with Chiari malformation, a condition caused by the skull being too small, which causes severe headaches. Addison had surgery Jan. 21 at Children's Hospital in St. Paul and now is home and recovering. All proceeds from the benefit and bake sale will be used to help with medical expenses and follow-up appointments in St. Paul. Kohl's Cares Scholarships: The Kohl's Department Stores Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program will award more than $415,000 in scholarships and prizes, ranging from $50 Kohl's gift cards to $10,000 scholarships, honoring young volunteers who have made a positive impact on their communities. Women's Scholarship Program: AARP Foundation is accepting applications for its fifth annual Women's Scholarship Program to provide funds to women 40 and older who are seeking new job skills, training and educational opportunities. Scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 will be awarded, depending on financial need and the cost of the education or training program.
