• Peach fundraiser: Grand Forks Youth for Christ will be holding its peach fundraiser in August. Sean Patterson, executive director, expects the last delivery date for the peaches to be Tuesday. Supporters can pick up and place walkup orders at Faith Evangelical Free Church at 1400 24th Ave. S. in Grand Forks, or preorder at www.gfyfc.org .

• Book sale: The Friends of Ethiopia Reads Group of Grand Forks will be holding a used book sale 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at 1708 Cottonwood St. The proceeds will be used to promote literacy in Ethiopia. Books are available for all age levels and in all genres. Paperbacks cost 50 cents each or $1 for three while hardcovers will cost $1 each or $5 for six.

• Riski family benefit: J.R. Riski's family lost its home in a fire two weeks ago in Minto, N.D. A benefit featuring pork roast with all the trimmings will be held 6 p.m. Aug. 23 in the beer garden behind the Harvey Avenue Saloon in Minto. Free will offering. All ages welcome. • Health Walk for Scholarships: The University of Minnesota, Crookston, will host its Third Annual Mary Tyrrell Health Walk for Scholarships at 5 p.m. Aug. 28. • Cancer Benefit and Ride: The North Country Horsemen Saddle Club will be hosting their Fifth Annual Cancer Benefit and Ride Aug. 30 to Sept.1. The proceeds will go to Trails for Treatments, a nonprofit group that helps fund cancer treatment. It will be held at the M&R Triple T Ranch, 11394 450th St. N.E., Strathcona, Minn.
