- Christie Family benefit: A fundraiser will be ongoing through today for the family of Scott and Leona Christie, who had to leave their home in Buxton, N.D., after a Jan. 18 fire. The Christies and four additional family members plan to return to their home once it is refurbished. Organizers from Ny Stavanger Free Lutheran Church in Buxton have placed 10 donation jars in businesses in Buxton and Hillsboro, N.D., where donations will be accepted through today. You also can help by writing a check to the Scott and Leona Christie Benefit and mailing it to: First State Bank, PO Box 68, Buxton, N.D. 58218.

- Girl Scout cookies: It's Girl Scout Cookie time through Saturday. Customers can go to www.gsdakotahorizons.org and click on the "Cookie Shop" link to find a searchable listing of a nearby Cookie Shop. Orcookie lovers can call the Cookie Hotline, (800) 666-2141.

- Enchanted Exchange: The Enchanted Exchange, a program to help teenagers find clothing and accessories for prom is underway at Grand Forks Public Library through Saturday. You can help by bringing gently used prom dresses and accessories to the library. Info: (701) 772-8116.

- Auction and bake sale: The 15th annual Pioneer Square Auction and Bake Sale will be Saturday at Pioneer Square in Brocket, N.D. The preview of auction items will be at 9 a.m. with coffee and cookies and the bake sale will begin at 9:30 a.m. Lunch (hot dogs, sloppy joes baked beans, homemade pies, bars and beverages) will start at 10:30 a.m. and be served all day. The live auction with auctioneer Chuck Rodin and Rodin's Auction Service of Marion, N.D., will begin at 11 a.m. and there also will be a silent auction. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Finnish American Historical Society of North Dakota and the Pioneer Square Community Center (the former Brocket school) for upkeep of the building.

- Pancake benefit: A pancake benefit will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Community Center in Badger, Minn., to raise funds for medical expenses for Debbie (Wojciechowski) Cimbura of Badger. The menu will be pancakes, ham, ice cream, strawberries, juice, milk, and coffee. The benefit is sponsored by the Greenbush-Badger Lions Club with supplemental funds provided by Lake of the Woods/Roseau County Trivent Financial for Lutherans.

- UND University Children's Center benefit: The UND University Children's Center will host its fifth annual silent auction from 7 to 9 p.m. March 31 at the children's center. With the focus on sustainability, the event's theme is "Growing up Green with UCC." Auction items include activities and services from local businesses, as well as art and pottery. Attendees also have the opportunity to bid on dinner with UND President and First Lady Robert and Marcia Kelley, and dinner with Mayor Mike Brown. All proceeds will be used to purchase environmentally friendly playground accessories at the Children's Center. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for community members and $10 for UCC parents. - Spaghetti Feed: A spaghetti feed and silent auction benefit for Kevin Johnson, Gilby, N.D., son of Greg and Edith Johnson, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 31 at Gilby Presbyterian Church. Kevin Johnson is battling cancer. An account has been established at Bremer Bank for donations.
