A benefit for Trish Kvasager-Belker, whom has been diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, will be held today at the East Grand Forks American Legion, located at 1009 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, starting at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will be used to offset medical expenses. A taco bar, drinks, a silent auction and music will be available.
A huge Relay for Life garage sale will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1616 S. 17th St., Grand Forks, today and Saturday. The sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity board members broke ground on Habitat's 2015 home building project on May 6. The home, to be owned by Haw Ahmed, will be built at 623 N. 24th St., Grand Forks.

Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Grand Forks has helped South Point Elementary School raise $1,170 at a "Drive for the Kids" fundraising event held during the school's School Carnival. Participants earned a $10 contribution to the school from the Chrysler brand by taking a test drive in a 2015 model Town & Country, Chrysler 200, or Chrysler 300 vehicle during the event.
Two men with Grand Forks ties are planning a charity bike ride to Winnipeg to raise money for Nepal earthquake relief. Troy Erickson of Grand Forks and his friend Jeff Achen of Farmington, Minn., plan to pedal from the Ski & Bike Shop in Grand Forks to the Fort Garry Hotel in downtown Winnipeg May 31. All donations will go to Red Cross relief efforts for Nepal, where Achen served as a Peace Corps volunteer.
