A benefit for David Knapp will be held in the St. Mary's Catholic Church basement, 216 Belmont Road, Grand Forks. Knapp is in stage-five renal failure and requires a kidney transplant. The benefit will run from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will include a silent auction, bake sale, and from 5 to 7 p.m., a free-will-offering spaghetti dinner.

Troy Erickson and Jeff Achen are planning a 145-mile bike ride to raise money for relief and recovery efforts in Nepal, which was struck by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake April 25. Weather permitting, the ride will take place on May 31 at 6 a.m., from the Ski and Bike Shop, 1711 S. Washington St., Grand Forks, to the Fort Garry Hotel, 222 Broadway, Winnipeg.

Mayville State University has concluded its drive to collect socks for people using the services of Traill County Social Services and Community Violence Center in Grand Forks. In this drive, 786 pairs of socks were collected for the homeless population in North Dakota.
