DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- Motorists are advised by the Minnesota Department of Transportation to use extreme caution in west-central Minnesota due to heavy snow and reduced visibility.

Visibility is currently reduced in Wilkin, Otter Tail, Grant, Douglas, Traverse, Stevens, Pope, Big Stone and Swift counties. Motorists should watch for scattered slippery areas and compacted snow on roadways. Visibility and road conditions will continue to deteriorate after dark as the system passes through the area.

No closures of interstate highways or other roads are anticipated at this time, according to a Department of Transportation news release, but motorists may encounter brief lane closures where crashes occur.
