BISMARCK -- The North Dakota Department of Health is investigating a report of storm sewer discharge in Bismarck.
The light-colored discharge was spotted Saturday coming out of the storm sewer outfall on 19th Street north of Century Avenue. The drainage leads to Hay Creek, but the department said in a statement that it was unclear whether the discharge had reached the creek.
Samples of the discharge were being analyzed Saturday at the Health Department’s laboratory in Bismarck.
Officials traced the source of the discharge to a construction site where a Courtyard by Marriott hotel is being built. Health Department and Bismarck officials have notified TMI Hospitality, which owns the hotel, and are working to prevent further leakage at the site.
