Two North Dakota men were admitted with injuries to Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake after a head-on collision Saturday afternoon on a gravel road five miles west of Tolna, N.D., the state highway patrol said in a news release. The hospital would not release any information on their conditions.
Terry Gartner, 47, Fargo, was driving east on 29th St. N.E. about 2:15 p.m. when his 2006 GMC pickup crossed over the middle of the road and struck a 1998 Chevy pickup driven by Randall Gleason, 50, Hamar, N.D., the patrol said.
Gartner was wearing a seat belt, and his airbag deployed, while Gleeson was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. Gartner had to be extricated from his vehicle by rescue personnel from the Eddy County Sheriff's Office.
Both drivers were transported to Mercy by New Rockford and Lake Region ambulances. Both pickups suffered severe front end damage.
The patrol, which is investigating the crash, said Gartner faces DUI charges.
