A hazardous weather outlook has been issued by the National Weather Service for portions of eastern North Dakota and northwestern and west central Minnesota.
Light snow is forecast throughout the day by the National Weather Service. Snowfall is expected to taper off tonight, with accumulations of up to an inch possible.
There will also be a slight chance of snow on Thursday in the region, with total accumulations of up to an inch or two expected.
A significant winter storm system is expected to move into the area on Friday and Friday night.
Significant snowfall and strong northern winds are possible. Blowing and drifting snow could also complicate weekend travel plans.

The counties included in the hazardous weather outlook include: Grand Forks, Griggs, Steele, Traill, Nelson, Cavalier, Walsh, Eddy, Towner, Barnes, Cass, Ransom, Sargent and Richland counties in North Dakota and Polk, Pennington, Red Lake, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Kittson, Roseau, Lake of the Woods, Beltrami, Clearwater, Clay, Hubbard, Becker, Wilkin, Otter Tail, Wadena and Grant counties in Minnesota.
