Interim President Dick Hanson's last day at North Dakota State University will be June 14, though he'll be available to help with the transition until the end of the month.
Dean Bresciani, the new president selected this week by the state Board of Higher Education, will begin June 15.
Richie Smith, president of the state Board of Higher Education, initially said the two would work together the final two weeks of June.
But Hanson said he'll step away after June 14.

"We don't need two presidents," Hanson said.
Hanson said he may need to finish up some things after June 15 and he will be available to assist Bresciani. Hanson's contract with the board goes through June 30.
Since arriving at NDSU in November, Hanson has said his goal was to get the university ready for its next president.
"I would have liked to have gotten more done," Hanson said. "I'm not sure we got everything done. But I think we know where everything's at. He won't have any surprises."
Hanson and Bresciani have met and discussed issues such as NDSU's budget and restoring the university's credibility around the state.
"He's ready to go," Hanson said. "I like him a lot."
Hanson begins as president of Bemidji (Minn.) State University and Northwest Technical College on July 12.
