Adam Trigg shuffled around a pump station on the Red River Thursday morning, patched a hole in his canoe, and reluctantly looked out at the rain. Trigg and five of his friends are in the middle of a journey that has led them from the Gulf of Mexico en route to the Arctic Circle.
The group began planning the trip in 2013, and they have worked around the country to gain experience and prepare for their nine-month, 5,200-mile test.
The six friends started the trip in January and have stayed in camping areas, motels, riverbanks and houses of friendly strangers.
"We've been well-received by everyone we've met. We've made friends along the way and fans come out to show support for the trip," said Trigg.
The group shoves off from the Lincoln Park Drive river access Friday morning.
