SPIRITWOOD, N.D. - Ground has been broken for a planned energy complex near Jamestown, N.D.

The 500 million dollar Spiritwood Station will include a 100-million-gallon ethanol plant, an expanded Cargill malt processing plant and a coal-fired power plant.

Minnesota-based Great River Energy, Cargill and the Newman Group of Jamestown are partners in the project. Governor John Hoeven calls it a unique agreement.

The power plant will generate electricity for Great River Energy's member cooperatives in Minnesota, as well as steam power for the ethanol and malting plants.
