Grand Forks Police have not developed any new leads as to who may have assaulted a woman Wednesday morning during a home invasion at an apartment building.
Officers were called at 2:47 a.m. for a report of two men who entered the apartment of a woman at 1114 22nd Ave. S. The victim, who so far is the only witness in the incident, told police the men began assaulting her. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction, and police were unable to find them after a search of the area.
The victim was taken to Altru Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Police Lt. Brett Johnson said Wednesday afternoon he believed she had been released from the hospital.
It's unclear why the men broke into the apartment. Investigators had not found any new leads in the case as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Johnson said, adding there were few details the victim was able to provide regarding the identity of the assailants.
Police do not know if there is a threat to the public, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the attack should contact the Grand Forks Police Department at (701) 787-8000.
