A Grand Forks vibrancy committee is set to hold its second "listening session" this year, this time, hosting a forum for event organizers to discuss their needs and ideas for the city.

Slated for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Greater Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau, 4251 Gateway Drive, the event is organized by the city's Arts and Events Vibrancy Committee, which recently held a similar event for artists and arts organizers in January.

At that event, guests were invited to speak about concerns ranging from whether they thought the art community was strong to who ought to fund and stand behind the arts, giving guests a chance to express their thoughts and concerns about the strength and health of the arts scene in Grand Forks.

The committee is one of three groups that are part of the city's Community Vibrancy Initiative, a roughly one-year-old project to boost the city's arts and events scene as well as strengthen the downtown area.

Guests to Thursday's event are asked to RSVP by emailing Julie Rygg, a co-chairwoman of the committee and the executive director of the Convention and Visitors' Bureau, at julie@visitgrandforks.com . Light refreshments are expected to be served at the event.
