Two new alcohol laws will go into effect Saturday in Grand Forks.
They city's extreme drink special ordinance prohibits bars or restaurants from selling an unlimited number of alcoholic drinks at a fixed price or serving on an "all you can drink" basis, with some exceptions.
The social host ordinance prohibits anyone from hosting an event at which they know or reasonably should know underage drinking will take place. Violating the social host ordinance is not considered a criminal offense, but it is punishable by a fee of up to $1,500, according to a city news release.
Grand Forks City Council passed both ordinances in April.
