Grand Forks robbery suspect captured on video

Images from surveillance video have given the Grand Forks Police Department a better description of a man who robbed a convenience store with a handgun Sunday night.

The man walked up to the counter of Valley Dairy Big Cigs near Gateway Drive and North Fifth Street in Grand Forks at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday and robbed the store of the money in the cash register, according to a news release.

In video footage of the robbery provided by police, the suspect can be seeing showing a black handgun to an employee behind the counter. After the man placed his hand holding the gun on the counter, the employee can be seen opening the cash register and placing cash in a bag.

No one was injured during the robbery, the release says. Police could not say how much money was stolen.

Police say the suspect is a white man between the ages of 28 and 35, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. Police described the suspect as having a “well-kempt reddish-brown beard.”

The suspect was wearing aviator sunglasses, a light gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, black and gray shoes and black gloves, according to the release.
