Grand Forks set a new monthly record for sales tax collection in August, according to City Hall Monday.
The city collected more than $2.1 million this month from sales made in June 2013. Not adjusted for inflation, this is the highest amount since the inception of sales tax in 1985.
The year-to-date total is nearly $13 million, which is $263,000 more than this time last year.
